About Me

About Me

Hi, I’m Anna and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Mental Health Counselor, a First Responder Intervention Specialist and a Human Trafficking Survivor Advocate. I was born and raised in Santa Fe NM, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology at The College of Santa Fe and my master’s degree in Counseling at Southwestern College. I began my Counseling Career in 2005 at The Life Link, where the majority of the client population was experiencing Substance Use Issues. After a couple of years of working with clients with addiction issues, I realized that most of them had one thing in common, that being some form of trauma in their past. I quickly realized that my focus needed to be on treating trauma, effectively. At that point I started working with victims/survivors of human trafficking and I did that for 8 years, until my 22-year-old son passed away, unexpectedly from an accidental fentanyl overdose. I took a year and a half off to grieve. Then I was asked to come work with First Responders at a local agency in Albuquerque and found that it is my niche. I have been working with First Responders for almost 2 years, now. I worked with the local agency with first responders and as Clinical Supervisor, which ultimately was too much time away from my family. I decided to open my private practice, Gold Soul Counseling in Rio Rancho, where I am closer to my family and get more time with them. I do work with clients who are not First Responders or Human Trafficking Survivors, who are experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other trauma symptoms.
